Antibacterials

Our platform technologies have broad applicability as antibacterials. The platform provides novel mechanisms of action with demonstrated activity against both gram positive and negative bacterial pathogens as well as drug-resistant bacteria. We have established, in vivo, early proof of concept against multiple bacterial pathogens, including Acinetobacter, Burkholderia, E. coli. and anthrax.

AVI is currently collaborating with the Karolinska Institute to identify RNA-based therapeutic candidates employing AVI’s platform technology for the treatment of extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB). The drug candidates will target individual human host and bacterial genes, as well as combinations of PMO-based drug candidates that target both host and bacterial genes.
